Easy Homemade Flatbreads


To cook the flatbreads


  1. Stir together the flour, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl.

  2. Create a well in the middle of the flour mix then pour in the water and oil.

  3. Stir with a spatula or wooden spoon to start bringing it together into a dough, then move to kneading the dough with your hands.

  4. Once the dough is formed into a smooth ball cover, and put it to one side to rest for 15 minutes.

  5. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each one into a ball.

  6. Lightly flour your worksurface, using a floured rolling pin each ball into a 20cm circle (about the size of a side plate in diameter)

  7. Put large non-stick frying pan medium-high heat.

  8. Pour in a 1/2 teaspoon of oil and brush all over the pan.

  9. While the pan is sizzling, put the first piece of flatbread into the pan.

  10. Cook for 1-2 minutes: bubbles should appear on the surface.

  11. Flip the flatbread over in the frying pan and cook for another minute

  12. Remove the flatbread from the pan and wrap it in a clean tea towel to keep warm and soft.

  13. Repeat the process from step 8 onwards with the remaining flatbreads.
